The program seeks to achieve a transformation in the education of girls in Malawi by addressing underlying gender inequalities both in school and in the community. Most girls are abused in their community even by the people who are supposed to protect them. There is a very high school dropout rate among girls. Most girls are married off before the age of 18 due to a combination of so many issues. The goals of the program are to build the capacity of girls (and boys) to challenge gender discrimination. To promote participatory modules on gender and HIV/AIDS in national pre-service and in-service teacher training. To build capacity and provide ongoing support to school management committees and the wider community addressing girl’s rights in education. To facilitate the development of legal and policy frameworks and good practice that will enhance and protects girls’ rights in school
